Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions about our courses, booking process, and driving instruction.
Do you offer both manual and automatic lessons?
Yes. We run full intensive courses in both manual and automatic cars, as well as beginner offer packages for each, so you can learn in whichever transmission suits you best.
How much is the theory test and how do I book it?
The DVSA theory test currently costs £23 and you book it directly with the DVSA. We recommend booking it for around two weeks before your practical lessons start so the timing works in your favour.
What's included in an intensive course?
Every intensive course includes a trained local instructor who knows the test routes, and use of a suitable, well-maintained car throughout your training.
How are the course hours arranged? Can I choose how many hours per day?
Yes, completely. We work around your schedule and availability, with lessons available anywhere between 8am and 8pm. Some students prefer two-hour sessions spread across a couple of weeks, others prefer a shorter, more concentrated block.
I'm a complete beginner — which course should I pick?
For most complete beginners we'd suggest starting from around 20 hours upwards, as this gives enough time to build a strong, confident foundation before moving on to test preparation. That said, every learner is different, so we'll always tailor a recommendation to you after an initial chat or assessment lesson.
Do I need a provisional licence before I start lessons?
Yes, you'll need a valid provisional driving licence before your first lesson. You can apply for one directly through the DVLA website — it usually takes about a week to arrive, so it's worth sorting out early.
What areas do you cover?
We cover Greater Manchester and the surrounding areas, with instructors based near test centres including Atherton, Bolton, Bury, Failsworth, Hyde and Rochdale. Get in touch and we'll confirm coverage for your postcode.
What's your pass rate?
Our students pass at a rate of over 80%, which is well above the national average. That comes down to structured, intensive training and instructors who focus on test-day readiness from day one.
How do I pay and secure my booking?
You book and pay securely online by card. For intensive courses you pay a booking amount now to hold your dates, instructor and car, and settle the remaining balance directly with your instructor. Beginner offers are paid in full at the time of booking.
Can I add extra hours if I need them?
Absolutely. If you feel you need more practice than your original course covers, additional hours can be added easily — just speak to your instructor or our office and we'll fit them in around your test date.
